What is KGHypnobirthing?

KGHypnobirthing is a complete antenatal training course for expectant mothers and their birth partners specialising in teaching breathing and relaxation techniques alongside general antenatal course information to gain confidence in the natural process of birth and to make informed decisions from evidence-based information. It also aims to give you the tools to have the best birth experience for you.

Can anyone do hypnobirthing classes?

Yes, the only requirement you need to be able to do my KGH course is to be pregnant. Any age or gestation will benefit. It also does not matter whether it is your first baby or not or where and how you intend to give birth; this course will benefit a home or hospital birth and a vaginal or caesarean birth. My course is for anyone that is anxious about giving birth or anyone that wants to learn more about birth and to give them the knowledge to make decisions about their birth and have the most positive birth experience possible.

When is the best time to do the classes?

You can do my classes at any gestation. The optimum time to do the course is 20 weeks as this gives you lots of time to practice the relaxation techniques before your labour. However, if you are before or after 20 weeks the course can still be beneficial to you and your baby in many ways!

What are the benefits of hypnobirthing?

It allows you to gain the knowledge, confidence, and a controlled mindset to make informed choices when it comes to your pregnancy and birth. It also improves communication between mothers, their partners and health professionals. It has been shown to reduce pain in labour, as well as interventions including epidural and forceps, reduces birth trauma and long-term effects of birth, both physical and mental. Hypnobirthing has also shown to be beneficial to babies once they are born, they tend to be healthier and have a calmer temperament.

Are there any disadvantages?

There have been no disadvantages of hypnobirthing identified. There is no stage hypnosis involved. It benefits everybody but in different ways.

Can I do the classes alone?

Yes, you can do the classes alone, the content and exercises can be adapted to someone that attends alone. However, you get the most out of the classes if your birth partner attends with you, it does not matter who your birth partner is or if they are apprehensive about attending, hopefully they’ll be converted by the end!
